Super Mario Galaxy Film Teaser Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some recognizable characters, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The movie will welcome back of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
