The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America
The Prince of Wales is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil during November, as announced by royal officials.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event leading up to the climate summit, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
Father and son were present at the museum gathering, marking an rare public appearance together at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the UK government.
Environmental Advocacy Dedication
King Charles has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and Prince William has inherited the mission, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the climate conference.
Royal sources have portrayed William's involvement at the next COP as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Previous Activities
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the state Bentley, were introduced to participants featuring environmentalists, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This engagement included speaking in concert with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco earlier this year.
Earthshot Awards Connection
The climate conference will coincide with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the COP summit on November 6th.
Recently the prince characterized the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the reminder: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to warn of the existential threats challenging our world over climate change, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed participants.
